What is the Challenge and who is it for?
The 1 Year Challenge is an awareness campaign geared towards those who are or have ever been affected by a loved one or friend’s substance abuse, those seeking recovery and those already on their recovery journey.
The Challenge is to;
“Not Drink Alcohol,
Not Use Illegal Drugs
or Abuse Legal Drugs
for One Year”
The rational behind the challenge is to show your loved one or friend suffering from an alcohol or drug addiction how much you care for their well-being and how awe-inspiring life can be without substance use!
It is to show your concern and support and spread awareness.
It's letting others know that you don’t need to alter your mind; to relax, to have fun, to calm down, to dance or to just “be”
It is being a good role model for generations to come.
It is letting your friends and family know that you are there for them and are trying to understand their addiction.
It can also be a step towards your recovery if this is what you are seeking. When combined with proper treatment or a recovery program the 1 Year Challenge can be a constant reminder of the new path you have chosen to take in life!
